We are seeking a highly skilled Water Reclamation Facility Operator to join our team at the City of Midland, TX. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the Water Reclamation Facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and Test Water Samples: Collect water samples from primary treatment areas and transport them to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Operate and maintain primary treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and other machinery, and observe the operation of related plant equipment.
  • Record and Report Data: Read gauges, record information, and report problems to the Operator or other supervisors in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform Janitorial and Groundskeeping Duties: Perform janitorial and groundskeeping duties in assigned areas, including cleaning and maintaining equipment and facilities.
  • Perform Related Duties: Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors, including assisting with maintenance and repairs of plant equipment.
Physical and Environmental Conditions

The Water Reclamation Facility Operator will work in a fast-paced environment with seasonal temperatures, bending, lifting, kneeling, twisting, and climbing to operate and maintain plant equipment. The employee will also work with potential mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards while collecting samples, and may be exposed to communicable diseases while handling raw sewage.

Required Qualifications
  • Effective Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with employees and supervisors on plant conditions and to receive work orders or instructions for any project.
  • Reading and Writing Skills: Ability to read operator's manuals, gauges, and work orders to collect samples for analysis, and skill in writing to record results.
  • Shift Work: Shift work is required, including rotating shifts and days off.
  • Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required, plus the ability to obtain C operator's certification from the TNRCC within established time constraints. Valid Texas Driver's License required.
