Compensation:

Salary Range: $65-$90 (Based on Experience)

The Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational environment is accountable for conducting student assessments and delivering as well as documenting therapeutic services in alignment with the individualized care plan established for each student and the directives from the attending physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts evaluations of students' communication abilities, oral-motor skills, cognitive functions, memory, problem-solving capabilities, hearing, and speech fluency and quality.
  • Evaluates the home setting (when applicable) and determines necessary equipment for speech/language functionality.
  • Identifies specific speech challenges and collaborates with the physician to create a tailored care plan addressing speech, language, hearing, and other functional impairments.
  • Implements speech therapy programs using specialized therapeutic methods and/or tools.
  • Educates patients, caregivers, and other healthcare team members about their roles in the speech therapy process.
  • Suggests communication devices or aids as needed.
  • Recommends audiological assessments when necessary.
  • Prepares and submits clinical progress reports based on goal achievement.
  • Instructs patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals regarding the treatment plan as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as required to support the provision of speech-language pathology services.
  • Identifies the needs of patients and families for supplementary services and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Adheres to established professional standards and practices, maintaining clinical proficiency in speech-language pathology.
  • Completes other assigned tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) License in the relevant state is mandatory.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be required by state or contract.
  • Adheres to all pertinent professional standards of practice.
  • Engagement in and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if required.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as necessary.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to and from relevant individuals (including supervisors, co-workers, and clients) using strong communication skills; proficiency in English is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer usage is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
