Job Summary

This position provides critical support to surgeons in the operating room, ensuring a safe and successful surgical experience for patients. The Certified Surgical Technologist will assist with exposure, hemostasis, and other intraoperative technical functions, as well as provide local anesthesia and participate in volume replacement techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with OR suite clean up and turn around
  • May harvest saphenous vein and/or radial artery open or endoscopically in open heart procedures
  • Participate in resuscitation of patient during cardiac arrest or other life-threatening events
  • Perform other duties or procedures incident to the surgical procedure deemed necessary and directed by the surgeon
Requirements
  • Credentialed by the LCC-ST or NSAA as a certified first assistant/certified surgical assistant or certified surgical tech
  • High School/GED required
  • Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required
Preferred Qualifications
  • CST with current certification and two (2) full years of first assisting preferred
  • Current BLS certification
  • NRP certification within six (6) months of hire for Women's Hospital employees
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail. The Certified Surgical Technologist must be able to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
