PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee a designated loan portfolio, typically comprising substantial and intricate commercial and real estate loans. Evaluate new loan applications and other servicing requests through meticulous analysis of financial documents and relevant credit information. Responsible for the approval or denial of loan actions, either through assigned delegated authority or by recommending to higher authorities (such as Underwriting or Lending Managers, loan committees, or Chief Credit Officer). Facilitate the lending relationship by aiding applicants in completing loan applications and supporting financial documentation, serving as an additional contact for clients.
KEY DUTIES:
- Assist clients in preparing loan applications, financial statements, and budgets.
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, along with other necessary information to process loan requests. Perform due diligence and present findings and opinions regarding the overall creditworthiness of requests.
- Ensure compliance of loan requests with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Input all required financial data into financial analysis, loan origination, and other processing systems.
- Approve or deny loan actions within assigned authority or recommend approvals to appropriate parties.
- Assist in reviewing and determining legal documentation.
- Collaborate across departments and with external vendors to ensure an efficient loan origination and servicing process.
- Monitor the assigned portfolio to identify potential servicing needs and ensure compliance with loan terms.
- Act as a point of contact for clients within the designated portfolio, providing backup to loan officers on service issues and responding to information requests.
- Serve as a mentor and trusted advisor to credit staff within the department.
- Stay informed on business, economic, and industry risks affecting the designated loan portfolio.
- Represent the organization at public events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Make independent decisions while working under the general supervision of the VP - Underwriting Manager or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in agribusiness, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of seven years of prior Underwriting or Lending experience is required; previous leadership experience in Underwriting is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of agriculture and agribusiness, with demonstrated expertise in relevant regional commodities.
- Comprehensive understanding of loan products and financial services.
- Strong grasp of sound credit administration practices with the ability to analyze complex requests.
- Above-average proficiency in cash flow, balance sheet, profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis.
- Demonstrated analytical and statistical skills to effectively evaluate loan requests and provide independent creditworthiness assessments aligned with organizational philosophy and risk appetite.
- Proven ability to manage a complex loan portfolio effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in PC usage, including word processing, email, and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as required by the position.
SALARY RANGE:
Minimum $94,000, Maximum $147,518.15 annually.
This range reflects the national salary average for this role and will be adjusted based on geographic location. The Ladders may offer compensation outside of this range for legitimate reasons unrelated to protected class membership.
