Transportation Engineer

Wight & Company is a leading design firm that has been recognized for its commitment to sustainable design principles. We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Assistant Resident Engineer/Senior Inspector to join our collaborative and engaging Transportation practice.

• Analyze applicable codes, standards, and specifications for compliance
• Monitor field testing and perform general field inspection of construction work
• Prepare IDR's and DCR's, monitor materials sampling and testing schedules, and document NCR's and QDR's
• Prepare SWPPP inspection and reports, interface with CM Quality Coordinator, and participate in professional societies
• Monitor the progress of contractor's work, maintain Quantity Book, and upkeep of Daily Logs and Contractor Logs
• Conduct weekly progress meetings, measure/record quantities in place, and monitor Field Staff
• Train Field Staff and maintain a strong working knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak, or similar CADD experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering
• 15+ years' experience working with DOT, Illinois Tollway, or comparable transportation agencies
• Strong working knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak, or similar CADD experience
• GIS knowledge a plus
