Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified First Assistant to join our team at PeaceHealth Ketchikan. As a Certified First Assistant, you will work collaboratively with surgeons and the healthcare team to ensure safe and optimal outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accumulate and prepare the necessary surgical armamentarium
  • Position patients on the operating room table and prep them for surgical procedures
  • Provide exposure for surgical procedures and administer local anesthesia as directed by the surgeon
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, including documentation pertinent to patient medical records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Accredited Program in Surgical Technology
  • Completion of a mentored internship with a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience demonstrating the ability to function as a CFA
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience and current competence in performing CFA tasks required
  • Certified First Assistant certification
  • Basic Life Support certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices, as well as frequent manual dexterity and tactile sensitivity. The role also requires occasional kneeling and exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
