Job Summary

Location: St. Bernard, OH

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all utility plant equipment and assist with maintenance tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries.
  • Perform operations in accordance with established SOPs and job safety standards.
  • Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice.
  • Conduct routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment and provide feedback to other employees.
  • Comply with all site safety requirements and procedures, identifying safety hazards and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain accuracy of shift operating logs, records, time sheets, work orders, and other administrative documents related to the power plant.
  • Perform routine cycle chemistry testing and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.
  • Check daily consumption rates of chemicals, gasses, fuels, water, and other consumables, and initiate action to replenish when appropriate.
  • Perform plant isolation and LOTO of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of Management when assigned.
  • Investigate plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans.
  • Read and record gauges and meters, and perform routine operational tests and adjustments on all power plant systems and components as required.
  • Develop, assist, and revise operations and maintenance related procedures.
  • Perform and maintain housekeeping standards and duties.
  • Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment, and support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised.
  • Become lead system representative on assigned systems.
  • Perform other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements.
  • Communicate with other company personnel on-site and at other locations, representing the company in dealing with the public, steam and power customers, vendors, contractors, regulators, and other non-company personnel.
  • Assist other team members and work with all departments to support the operation in achieving its goals.
  • Be willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour call-ins when contacted by phone.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Third-Class Ohio Engineers License is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of utility and power plant mechanical and electrical equipment, including boilers, turbine generators, motors, pumps, fluid systems, and other related equipment.
