Physicist - Radiation Safety Specialist

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks a highly skilled Clinical Physicist to join our team in the Department of Radiation Oncology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the radiation physics requirements of our Medical Center are met in accordance with NYS Department of Health and ACR regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Function as the Radiation Safety Officer and develop/maintain the Radiation Safety Program.
- Participate in the clinical aspects of external radiation therapy and brachytherapy.
- Monitor and calibrate radiation therapy treatment equipment.
- Oversight of the quality control program for radiation producing equipment.
- Participate in the design of the radiation therapy facility and commission linear accelerators, treatment planning computers, and other radiation producing equipment.
- Establish and monitor record and verify systems for Radiation Therapy.
- Directly supervise technical staff and clinical function of the section of Radiation Oncology.
- Collaborate with the Director of Oncology Services to meet established goals related to budget, staffing, regulatory agency requirements, and staff, patient, and physician satisfaction.
- ABR/ACR certification in radiation and diagnostic medical physics.
- New York State licensure required.
- Master of Science degree in medical physics or higher.
- Experience in quality assurance and calibration on a variety of radiation producing equipment.
- Experience with design of Radiation Therapy facilities and commissioning of linear accelerators, treatment planning computers, and other radiation producing equipment.
- Experience as the Radiation Safety Officer.
