As an employee of the school district, the appointee will report to the Assistant Superintendent and be responsible for the day-to-day medical operations of the health center.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise medical staff and oversee the day-to-day operations of the health center
- Provide medical care to patients, including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate
- Perform minor surgical procedures and commission healthcare by liaising with medical professionals in the community and hospitals
- Maintain the confidentiality of all patients according to HIPPA and meet targets set by the government for specific treatments, such as child immunizations
- Stay abreast of medical developments, new drugs, treatments, modalities, and medications
- Ensure each patient receives the standard of care with a high level of quality
- Doctorate Degree in medicine (MD or DO)
- Completed residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
- Current license to practice medicine as a physician by the Texas Medical Board with no restrictions
- Unrestricted DEA license for the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Continuing medical education credits as required by the Texas Medical Board
- Two or more years of practical experience with patients preferably in family medicine or internal medicine
- Ability to set priorities and make adjustments to meet fluctuating workloads
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong assessment skills
- Ability to handle stress such as time restraints and emotional stressors
- Ability to appropriately delegate responsibilities to the staff
