Phlebotomist II

Rio Grande Regional Hospital is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages, performing special chemistry procedures, and participating in the laboratory information system (LIS). You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing outpatients, and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, using aseptic technique and following established protocols.
• Perform special chemistry procedures, such as blood cultures and glucose testing.
• Participate in the LIS, including data entry and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate records, including patient information and laboratory results.
• Process outpatients, including verifying patient information and collecting specimens.
• Ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory, including maintaining equipment and supplies.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of phlebotomy experience or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
• ASCP, NHA, or NCCT certification preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
