Inspector Responsibilities:


Conduct inspections of demonstrator and production aircraft systems, components, and parts to ensure compliance with governmental and corporate standards and specifications.


Examine the installation and functionality of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, oil, and emergency systems, along with other aircraft components.

Carry out preflight and post-flight inspections following established procedures on aircraft with proven flight records.

Authorize non-flight-proven aircraft for operation. Inspect, adjust, repair, or modify aircraft as necessary.

Oversee and validate quality in alignment with statistical process control or other regulatory procedures.

Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Responsibilities:
Execute non-destructive testing (NDT) on aircraft engines or components.


Inspect both metallic and non-metallic materials, parts, and assemblies for defects utilizing automated and manual techniques, including radiography, ultrasonic, penetrant, eddy current, shearography, thermography, and magnetic particle inspection.

Perform NDT on various aircraft structures and components.

Examine composite and metallic parts and assemblies for defects using both automated and manual methods.

Essential Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, accompanied by 6 years of additional education and/or experience in aircraft manufacturing, quality assurance, and non-destructive testing.

Current or previous certification to NDT Level II in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET) in accordance with NAS-410 (documentation required).

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Must pass vision, medical, and respiratory examinations, and be capable of climbing stairs and ladders as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in aerospace or aviation fields.

Proficient in using measuring instruments such as comparators, micrometers, scales, and calipers.

Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and other Quality/NDT auditing/accreditation systems.

Experience with MAUS systems.

Knowledge of various brands of flaw detectors is highly desirable.

Experience interpreting flaws in composite materials.

Certification in additional NDT methods.

A positive attitude and a strong desire to enhance skills and knowledge.

Willingness to cross-train in other NDT methods.

Ability to work extended or flexible hours on short notice as needed.

Capable of working under general supervision with minimal oversight.

Compensation Range:
$70,400 - $117,400


The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman evaluates various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, along with the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are intended to reward individual contributions and allow employees to participate in company success. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
