Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Molding Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Initiate and troubleshoot injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensure a continuous supply of colorant and materials to the machines.
- Maintain foil supply on hot stamping equipment.
- Provide breaks for co-workers within the department as necessary.
- Adjust and/or repair minor services on auxiliary equipment and machines. Troubleshoot equipment; determine and recommend appropriate solutions to Maintenance personnel and Shift Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with oncoming and off-going Mold Technicians to exchange specific instructions and quality information.
- Support and investigate situations where line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived safety risks.
- Complete responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Collaborate with all department staff to notify the Shift Supervisor of any quality issues or conditions.
- Coordinate with Quality and Maintenance personnel regarding machine operations and any malfunctions.
- Collect and inspect daily production reports for accuracy and perform data entry as required.
- Understand the duties and responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor and perform some responsibilities when required for position coverage.
- Maintain the assigned area free of safety hazards; report safety issues directly to the Shift Supervisor and/or through the company safety tracking program.
- Be adaptable to fluctuating production demands, which may require a flexible schedule including overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred 2-4-year college or technical degree.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of injection molding machinery and processes is preferred.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred).
- Excellent communication, investigation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Six Sigma training is preferred.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, and reach to perform necessary job functions.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, overhead crane, scissor lift, and pallet jack is beneficial.
