Substation Engineer Job Description

Our company, Jobot, is seeking a skilled Substation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-voltage electrical substations that ensure the reliable delivery of electricity to consumers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, substations, and related equipment.
  • Review and approve substation design documents and calculations, ensuring compliance with National Electric Safety Code and other relevant standards.
  • Lead and manage substation projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of substations, identifying and resolving any issues promptly and effectively.
  • Coordinate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders on project requirements, design, and implementation.
  • Develop and implement safety measures and quality control processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is desired but not required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in substation design and project management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale engineering projects.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to design and oversee the implementation of electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
