Radiology Technologist

As a Radiology Technologist at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our diagnostic imaging team. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to join our team and help us deliver exceptional patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Position patients, adjust equipment, secure, immobilize, and support devices as needed to perform procedures.
Determine appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient condition to obtain quality films for radiologists.
Secure patient history and record on appropriate forms for radiologists' review.
Operate Advanced Equipment
Assist radiologists with modalities such as dexa scans, mammography, and CT scans, requiring additional experience and knowledge.
Operate DEXA scan, mammography, and/or CT equipment proficiently.
Ensure Patient Safety and Quality Care
Maintain compliance with established safety standards to protect patients and staff at all times.
Maintain supplies and cleanliness for assigned room on a daily basis.
Assure accuracy of exam performed and requisition.
Perform clerical duties such as maintaining patient records, answering phones, scheduling examinations, and giving instructions to patients in preparation for examination.
Coordinate Quality Control Tasks
Coordinate the flow of patients into and out of the department in accordance with established departmental procedures.
Transport patients into and out of the department as necessary.
Check film quality to ensure optimal quality and correct film labeling.
Prepare radiographic rooms for procedures, maintain equipment, and supplies as required.
Report deficient inventory of supplies and lines to Manager.
Label radiographic films according to department quality assurance standards and criteria.
Prepare mixtures and/or dyes as necessary following prescribed formulas.
Provide Instruction and Orientation
Provide direction and instruction to technologists in need of assistance with specific procedures.
Participate in Problem-Solving and Quality Assurance
Maintain positive 'guest relations' and telephone etiquette following prescribed departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain current ARRT certification, CPR, and state accreditation.
Requirements
Graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
2-3 years of experience as a General Radiographer.
Knowledge of HIS system and basic knowledge of RIS system.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers from all levels.
IDNS accreditation in medical radiation technology and CPR certification.
Working Conditions
Ability to make independent professional decisions pertaining to high-quality patient care.
High degree of technical skills and ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities.
Lifting of patients: 10-20 pounds constantly, 20-50 pounds frequently, and 50-100 pounds occasionally.
