Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Irving, Texas. This position will be responsible for organizing and supervising the tax planning, controversy, and research functions of the US Tax group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze tax data to minimize tax costs while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Review current tax return structures and develop methods to optimize them.
  • Oversee internal and externally assisted tax credits processes, including R&D, IRA, and state credits.
  • Discover tax risks and develop countermeasures.
  • Research tax regulation implications on the organization.
  • Manage projects for legal entity mergers, dissolutions, transfers of assets, and ensure other departments complete necessary due diligence.
  • Manage federal, state, and local income and franchise tax audits, appeals, and litigation for the US group.
  • Work with accounting personnel to analyze book-tax differences.
  • Manage tax due diligence for US acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to field personnel on federal and state franchise and income, sales, use, and other types of state and local tax issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Master's degree in Taxation.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or law license required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a tax department (public accounting or industry).
  • Profound experience in tax accounting, tax compliance, and tax return operations.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and find solutions to problems.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office, OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, and SAP.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Total Quality Principles.
