Job Summary

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a qualified Before and After School Academy Teacher to oversee the daily operations of the Before and After School Academy Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for program participants, while also building strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Operations: Administer the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring all components are implemented and running smoothly.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision to program participants, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Relationship Building: Build effective, authentic relationships with staff, students, and parents, encouraging parent involvement and identifying potential volunteers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records as required, including site checklists, attendance, food service, staff and student forms, and other relevant documents.
  • Communication: Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled, and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Emergency Procedures: Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, and complete corrective action, discipline, incident, and accident reports as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Work closely with school personnel, other YMCA staff, and community partners to ensure a seamless and effective program.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to parents and program participants, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Reporting: Assist with monthly statistical reports, providing valuable insights and data to inform program decisions.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in bi-monthly Parent Advisory Committees meetings, engaging with parents and community members to build relationships and promote the program.
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in the planning and implementation of site activities that align with the program curriculum, ensuring a high-quality and engaging experience for program participants.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree and/or valid teaching licensure/certificate.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Training and Certifications: Complete all online trainings, New Hire on Boarding, and ASHI certifications within 30 days of employment.
  • Team Management: Demonstrate the ability to apply proactive team management techniques and employ conflict resolution with team members as needed.
  • Availability: Be available for Out of School Days (days when school is closed and we have full-day care at the branch).
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Suite programs.
  • Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines as needed.
