SBA Underwriting Supervisor

Job Responsibilities

As the Manager of the Business Banking Underwriting department, you will oversee and coordinate various activities to ensure high-quality service and effective support for both internal and external clients. Your leadership will drive results through the management of a diverse team, which may include non-exempt and exempt level professionals. You will be responsible for:

• Implementing corporate policies and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
• Conducting thorough underwriting reviews to mitigate the bank's risk while employing effective problem-solving techniques in loan approvals.
• Providing comprehensive support and training to all team members, including establishing underwriting guidelines.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Typically eight to ten years of relevant experience in the field.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proven supervisory and management capabilities within Business Banking or Commercial Underwriting.
• In-depth knowledge of SBA Lending and familiarity with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Expertise in all underwriting functions.
• Strong organizational, managerial, and analytical skills.
• Excellent customer relations and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Advanced understanding of credit policies, analysis, and procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and risk analysis abilities.
• Proficiency in nCino, Moody's Credit Lens, and Microsoft Suite is preferred.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance for three or more days per week, with flexibility for remote work on other days.
