Whittier Health Network is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. This role involves crucial responsibilities in the collection and management of blood samples and other specimens.

• Identify optimal techniques for obtaining blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Ensure accuracy of test requisitions by cross-referencing with nursing logs and addressing any discrepancies with relevant personnel.
• Confirm patient identity and clearly explain the procedures involved in sample collection.
• Perform blood specimen collection through venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Uphold specimen integrity by adhering to aseptic techniques and departmental protocols.
• Document collected specimens meticulously, including initials, dates, and times, while maintaining daily collection records.
• Foster a safe and healthy work environment by complying with established standards and legal regulations.
• Maintain professional standards and adhere to institutional policies, as well as federal and state regulations.
• Provide reassurance to patients who may be anxious about the sampling process and apply appropriate dressings post-collection.
• Keep workspaces organized and clean to promote efficiency and safety.

• Proficient in venipuncture and blood collection techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and compassion towards patients.
• Ability to analyze information and apply critical thinking to problem-solving.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in phlebotomy.
• First aid certification.
• Previous experience in a phlebotomy role is advantageous.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 10 – 20 per week
Schedule: Day shifts with rotating weekends.
