Job Summary

The Campus Safety Officer is a vital member of the Lewis University Police Department, responsible for maintaining security and safety on campus. This part-time position requires a strong commitment to service and the ability to provide positive interactions with community members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide security patrols on foot and in vehicles to protect students, faculty, staff, and property.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including fires, burglaries, and medical emergencies.
  • Enforce University policies and regulations, including traffic and parking rules.
  • Provide customer service to the public, including answering questions and providing directions.
  • Collaborate with Residence Life staff and other departments to provide programming and community outreach.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of crime prevention programming and community education.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to successfully complete departmental training programs, including use of force, defensive tactics, and police bicycle training.
  • LEADS and CJIS certification preferred.
Working Conditions

This is a security-sensitive position requiring a criminal background check. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations as needed.
