Breastfeeding Counselor

At New Hope Services Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of Breastfeeding Counselor. This position involves providing evidence-based lactation information, counseling, and support to prenatal and postpartum women who are participating in our WIC program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide lactation information and support to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
- Contact prenatal clients at least once before delivery.
- Present breastfeeding as the normal feeding method and provide information on its benefits.
- Contact postpartum women to assist with positioning, provide lactation information, and encourage successful breastfeeding.
- Accept phone calls from clients 24/7 and return calls within 24 hours.
- Maintain accurate records of contacts and document all interactions in the WIC client chart.
- Refer breastfeeding problems to the WIC CPA or IBCLC as needed.
Requirements:
- Must have at least one child that was breastfed for at least six months within the last five years.
- Must be fluent in Spanish, both spoken and written communication.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Estimated Salary: $14.00-$15.00 per hour.
