We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for two days in the office and three days remote.
Your Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product management and other engineering teams to design, develop, and maintain both current and future products, including order/subscription systems, royalty payment processes, and artist service applications.
  • Lead significant projects that align with the organization's key objectives.
  • Assess the platform requirements of various functional areas and provide design and development support as needed.
  • Understand user needs and create products that are user-friendly and intuitive.
  • Break down complex product tasks into manageable milestones with an emphasis on rapid testing and iteration.
  • Promote best practices to ensure the development of reliable, maintainable, and fault-tolerant software.
  • Contribute to the design of system architectures to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to building a high-performing engineering team.
  • Set a standard for engineering practices and code quality through your own work.
  • Engage in our cross-functional on-call rotation, addressing incidents, refining alerts, and enhancing our collection of runbooks.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven ability to write clear, testable code with a focus on maintainability.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to designers, support staff, and fellow engineers.
  • Strong foundation in computer science principles: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
  • Experience in architecting data storage solutions using both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Expertise in web services, SOA, RPC (GraphQL, REST, gRPC, Thrift), and API design.
  • Familiarity with common algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Capability to distill ambiguous requirements in complex environments into actionable tasks.
  • Experience in diagnosing root causes and contributing to the resolution of production issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in developing scalable web applications using Python, Node, or similar technologies (e.g., Ruby, Go, C, or Java).
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Python web frameworks such as Flask and Django.
  • Familiarity with relational databases, particularly Postgres.
  • Experience with document databases (MongoDB, DocumentDB).
  • Proven experience in designing and building web applications.
  • A passion for music and a genuine interest in the music industry's inner workings.
