Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Amergis. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans in consultation with parents and department team members.
  • Support learning for students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • Design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum.
  • Assist parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Serve as the coordinator of individualized education program (IEP) implementation with general education staff.
  • Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of student's IEP, as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Mentor and support teaching assistants who provide support to students with disabilities.
  • Support students in preparation for grade transitions and preparing for life skills.
  • Assess students' skills and educational needs and track student's performance.
  • Discuss students' progress with their other teachers.
  • Communicate to maintain positive relationships with students and their parents.
  • Follow School District policies and procedures.
