Job Overview

The Picture Framer will work with high-quality framing equipment in a fast-paced production environment to cut and join frames, cut mats and glass, stretch canvases, and assemble framed artwork. This role requires collaboration with production team members and sales staff to create frames that meet the highest standards and uphold the reputation of Colorchrome Atlanta, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and fit frames for various mediums, including original and printed artwork on paper, canvas, wood, metal, and fabric.
  • Mount artwork using conservation hinging techniques, shadowboxing techniques, sewing, and drymounting up to 48"x96".
  • Stretch and frame canvas art up to 20 feet long.
  • Cut mats and glass using specialized equipment.
  • Inspect frames and finished pieces to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Work with the production and sales teams to ensure the structural integrity and strength of each frame design.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions in framing work tickets and spec sheets.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Picture Framer required.
  • Commercial Production Framer experience preferred.
  • Experience with Specialty Soft software preferred.
  • Must understand the construction of stretcher bars, risers, float frames, and standard frames for paper, canvas, and mirrors.
  • Reliable, productive, and able to work continuously in a shop environment.
  • Comfortable with and capable of using small and medium power and hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability required.
  • Can read and recognize product variations.
  • Can read a tape measure and calculate fractions.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and follow through on tasks without reminders.
  • Able to work efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs and be standing and active all day.
  • Must be an individual who values learning and continuous improvement, who wants to make positive contributions to a common effort.
  • High attention to detail required.
  • High school or GED required.
