Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guest Service: Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room, take food and beverage orders, and deliver items in an efficient manner, following established steps of service.
  • Food Safety and Handling: Maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards, and follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests.
  • Menu Knowledge: Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and ingredients, and advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested.
  • Communication: Communicate directly with back-of-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
  • Teamwork: Exhibit exceptional communication skills and demonstrate the ability to get along well with others, remaining flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff.
  • Cash Handling: Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Environmental Services: Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests, and maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared.
  • Problem Resolution: Promptly address complaints or issues, and relay relevant information or complaints directly to a supervisor.
  • Pre- and Post-Service: Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period, and keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
  • Special Events: Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
