Server Role

As a Server at Eddie Merlot's, you'll play a crucial role in delivering superior guest service. You'll answer guest questions, take orders, and process/communicate orders to the kitchen and bar.

You'll be responsible for presenting food and beverages in accordance with established procedure, presenting guest checks, and processing payment.

In addition, you'll maintain your station in a clean and orderly manner and partner with Bartenders, Bussers, Runners, and other team members to ensure each guest receives outstanding service and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Complete and pass required training modules – both initial and ongoing.
  2. Know and understand menu and beverage options.
  3. Follow established guidelines for sequence and methodology of service and providing outstanding hospitality.
  4. Communicate with Manager and Hosts to understand reservations, guest flow, large parties, or special event needs.
  5. Take beverage orders, garnish and pick up drinks, and deliver beverages in accordance with procedure.
  6. Give a menu tour, guide guests through the ordering process, and offer the meat tray presentation.
  7. Answer menu questions and follow menu merchandising procedures by listening, explaining specials, suggesting items, and up-selling.
  8. Perform pre-bussing and table maintenance duties throughout the meal.
  9. Offer desserts and additional beverages as needed.
  10. Bus, set, and re-set tables as needed.
  11. Follow Eddie Merlot's policies, procedures, standards, and performance expectations, as well as applicable laws and regulations related to liquor, food handling, sanitation, and safety at all times.
  12. Communicate information regarding guest requests or complaints and ideas for improvement to Managers.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience as a Server, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English clearly and effectively.
  • Must have a state license to serve alcohol and understand state/local liquor regulations.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Able to work a flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Lunch-time serving hours may be required for certain seasons, holidays, or special events.
  • Able to lift and carry trays of food and beverages.
