Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Geologist to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As an Assistant Geologist, you will assist on a variety of environmental-based tasks, including field sampling, investigations, and report writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with field-related activities, including logging soils, air monitoring, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Assess soil and groundwater data, develop sampling plans, and compile data for analytical results.
  • Contribute to proposal and report writing for environmental projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors for field investigation activities and assist with site remediation planning.
  • Coordinate laboratory analysis for sample identification and evaluation.
  • Perform on-site field monitoring to document compliance with federal, state, and local permit requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related Environmental degree required.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of standard geological techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA, and remedial design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
