Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Quality Assurance Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily quality operations within the department.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Managing and supervising daily quality assurance tasks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Monitoring performance metrics to confirm that all necessary tasks are executed effectively.
  • Leading the team in identifying and resolving nonconformance issues, conducting thorough root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Overseeing pest control activities at the facility and ensuring quarterly verification of pest control services.
  • Conducting monthly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) walkthroughs and presenting findings during GMP meetings for further action.
  • Collaborating with various departments to identify, document, and follow up on necessary activities, including facility repairs.
  • Serving as the HACCP Coordinator, responsible for all food safety-related conditions and activities, including meetings, reassessments, and plan reviews.
  • Performing trend analysis on food safety and quality data, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and environmental swab results.
  • Training new employees and providing ongoing training for all staff on food safety and quality protocols at least once a year.
  • Acting as the primary contact for USDA inspectors to manage regulatory inquiries and concerns.
  • Reviewing product safety and quality records and overseeing product release processes.
  • Leading audits conducted by customers, suppliers, third parties, and regulatory bodies.
  • Promoting a culture of safety and quality within the facility.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and organizational regulations and policies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Capability to push and pull, with occasional use of a pallet jack for finished goods.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperature environments (freezer at -10°F, cooler at 40°F, and oven area at 99°F).
  • Ability to work in a moderately high noise environment (PPE provided).
  • Comfortable working with chemicals (PPE provided).

Qualifications:

  • Certification in SQF, PCQI, and HACCP.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a managerial and compliance role, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field, preferably Food Science and Technology.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
