About the Position
The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in our organization, responsible for performing complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting tasks. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and strategic thinking, ensuring the preparation of accurate accounting statements and financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Cash Receipts and Reconciliation
- Prepare and reconcile financial cash receipts and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- General Ledger Management
- Post journal entries to the general ledger, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Customer Payment Management
- Reconcile customer payment records against payment source documents, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
- Internal Collaboration
- Interface with the internal customer service department to resolve billing and payment issues and inquiries.
- Record Keeping and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including ledgers, journals, invoices, and receipts, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Accounting Principles
- Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Technical Skills
- Fluent in Microsoft Office, with expertise in MS Excel, including vlookup, sumif, and concatenate functions.
- Education and Experience
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting work experience.
- Soft Skills
- Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Proven work experience as an Accounting Specialist or similar role.
- Loans Servicing System (NLS) or other similar Loan system experience.
- Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, or other similar accounting system experience.
