Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will provide technical support by performing analyses, tests, and procedures that assist in the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform analyses, tests, and procedures to assist in the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases.
  • Accessioning/ ordering tests in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and processing specimens with referral to the reference laboratories.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate equipment to ensure efficient and accurate results.
  • Maintain documentation according to regulatory agencies and write laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Exposure to infectious clinical specimens on a regular basis, so adherence to sterilization and infection control procedures is required.
Qualifications:
  • Medical Laboratory Technician - Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with an Associate's degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), CLT(NCA).
  • Medical Technologist - Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with a bachelor's degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), CLS(NCA).
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements, chemical and biological hazards.
  • Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
  • Reading, writing, calculating, above average social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and works with minimal to no supervision.
Language Requirements:
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
