About the Role

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in a correctional facility setting. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to inmates within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Act.

Responsibilities
  • Administer medication to inmates in a safe and effective manner.
  • Obtain medical history for new inmates and assess new symptoms in triage.
  • Treat symptoms based on physician protocol and provide simple wound care as needed.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and effective communication.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of relevant experience as an LPN.
  • Current licensed practical nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidential information.
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a patient care area, with exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment.
