We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Distribution Engineering Lead to join our team at Leidos. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of construction work packages for electric distribution systems and make a significant impact on our company's success.

About the Role:

  • Lead a team of designers and engineers to develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV, focusing on programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.
  • Act as technical lead for engineers/designers to develop construction work packages, including engineering calculations and constructability concerns, and train junior engineers and designers.
  • Maintain project scope, schedule, and budget under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes; communicate work progress, technical issues, and schedule with clients.
  • Comply with Leidos and client safety requirements, as well as design and quality expectations.
  • Develop permitting documents for different AHJs and coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field and forestry personnel, and 3rd-party owners for joint-owned poles.
  • Travel to sites and customer meetings as needed.
  • Oversee on-boarding, performance, and day-to-day assignments of direct reports.
  • Perform reviews (QA/QC) of work by other engineers for submittal to clients.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.

About You:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience performing electric distribution design engineering for electric utilities.
  • You have demonstrated proficiency in NESC Standards, AutoCAD/MicroStation, Bluebeam/Adobe, and distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc.
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with previous experience monitoring scopes and tracking work progress.
  • You have the ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel, with reimbursement at IRS-approved rates.
