Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Packaging Corporation of America. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and replace mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems on all plant manufacturing and support equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is running efficiently and effectively
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Work with a team to increase productivity, decrease downtime, and reduce waste
  • Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in maintenance or a related field
  • Proper general maintenance and troubleshooting practices or technical training
  • Demonstrated ability to read equipment instruction manuals and align equipment to specified tolerances
  • Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and/or electrical equipment experience, including pumps, gearboxes, fans, and agitators
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 to 5 years of practical application experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, steam, and pneumatic maintenance functions
  • Technical degree and/or comparable experience in successfully troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment
  • Electrical competency and basic computer skills for diagnostic equipment
