Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift
Role Summary:
The Patient Care Technician plays a crucial role in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of the unit manager and healthcare professionals. This position is dedicated to enhancing patient comfort and supporting clinical staff in their duties.
General Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Attend to the comfort and hygiene needs of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, and hair care.
- Assist with the use of bedpans and urinals, and ensure proper skin care and linen changes.
- Deliver meals and beverages, monitor vital signs, and collect laboratory specimens.
Technical Care Duties:
- Support the execution of patient tests and treatment procedures.
- Prepare and prime IV tubing, conduct 12-lead ECGs, and perform basic tracheostomy suctioning.
- Change dressings, perform CPR, and obtain cultures as necessary.
Equipment Management:
Assist medical professionals with the setup and supply of necessary equipment.
Patient Transport:
Facilitate patient mobility using assistive devices and support transfer procedures.
Communication and Documentation:
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively to meet the needs of patients and their families, while adhering to regulatory standards. Uphold strict confidentiality regarding patient and departmental information.
Quality Improvement Initiatives:
Utilize resources efficiently to promote high-quality patient care and cost-effective outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Preferred: High School Diploma
Experience:
Required: Less than one year of relevant experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Certified Nurse Assistant, CPR Certification
Additional Requirements:
Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with registration on the appropriate health department registry or an equivalent educational background in a clinically focused program.
