We are seeking a skilled Perioperative Nurse to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Position patients to provide optimal exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment as needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Implement physicians' orders to provide visualization of the operative site, using appropriate methods to manipulate tissue and materials, retract, sponge, suction, and irrigate.
- Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
- Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring that care is delivered based on patient-specific needs and clinical requirements.
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education.
- Two years' registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty or completion of an APRN program with RNFA training.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of work location.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification from the Competency & Credentialing Institute.
