Position Overview
The Lead Auditor is an integral member of the Validation Team, responsible for ensuring compliance and validating remediation activities within the organization. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our auditing processes and ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of Audit Management, the Lead Auditor will:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of regulatory issue validations to confirm that remediation efforts are sustainable and effective.
- Actively engage in the internal audit team’s planning, execution, and reporting phases of issue validation.
- Participate in additional audit assignments, contributing to planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up activities.
Accountabilities
The Lead Auditor will be responsible for:
- Developing comprehensive test plans to evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of management's remediation strategies.
- Participating in audit planning sessions, risk assessments, and reporting processes.
- Preparing high-quality documentation to support conclusions regarding design and operational effectiveness, adhering to internal audit methodologies.
- Providing constructive feedback to management regarding the effectiveness of remediation efforts and overall control environment.
- Utilizing available resources and tools to enhance audit outcomes and meet departmental objectives.
Compliance and Conduct
As a representative of the organization, the Lead Auditor must adhere to all applicable policies and standards. This includes:
- Upholding the CIBC Code of Conduct and fostering a culture of accountability and risk management.
- Engaging in continuous professional development and completing all mandatory training.
- Addressing any observed discrepancies or behaviors that conflict with organizational policies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, or business administration.
- A minimum of four years of experience in auditing, risk management, or related areas.
- Strong analytical and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Familiarity with the regulatory landscape of the banking industry is advantageous.
