We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Development to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our development team, you will play a critical role in securing philanthropic support for the School of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Qualify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors to secure annual and leadership gifts for the School of Medicine.
- Develop and coordinate fundraising programs to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.
- Engage with confidential and sensitive information related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations.
- Collaborate with development officers and alumni relations colleagues to create opportunities for alumni and friends to support the School and its mission.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
- Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and project management skills.
- Understanding of academic, research, and education functions and operating principles of a major research university.
- Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
- Thorough working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, and infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- A minimum of three years of successful fundraising in a complex development program, preferably in a health-related field.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or comparable donor/prospect database system.
- 1-3 years of experience working in a capital campaign and knowledge of concepts from planning phase to conclusion.
- 1-3 years of successful experience working with volunteers and university administrators to ensure an integrated, organized effort.
