POSITION: Volunteer Park Host

ROLE SUMMARY: Engage in various responsibilities as a park host. Immerse yourself in the park system while serving as a steward to protect the park and enhance the experience for visitors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reside in the campground while adhering to all applicable rules and policies.
- Inform campers of minor infractions and necessary corrective actions; provide them with park regulations and encourage compliance. If issues persist, contact appropriate personnel for enforcement.
- Act as a liaison between park users and park management.
- Promptly report maintenance concerns to park staff for swift resolution.
- Assist visitors by offering information regarding park amenities, regulations, camping, and points of interest.
- Monitor adherence to campground and park regulations and understand the rationale behind these rules.
- Set a positive example by practicing good camping etiquette and maintaining cleanliness around the campsite.
- Ensure restrooms, showers, and communal areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Manage the sale of shower tokens.
- Handle park reservations through a web-based system and monitor upcoming bookings to prepare campsites for incoming visitors.
- Answer park inquiries and process reservations as needed.
- Maintain records of occupied and reserved sites, oversee campground traffic, and guide campers to available sites.
- Collect litter and maintain cleanliness around trash receptacles, including pet waste stations.
- Regularly clean and empty fire pits and barbecue areas, ensuring they are free from debris.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a self-contained recreational vehicle, with a requirement to submit a photograph of the vehicle.
- Maintain proof of insurance coverage for the RV and vehicle on site.
- Pets are permitted, provided they comply with park regulations and have current vaccinations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Basic computer usage, telephone communication, and cash handling.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Represent the City positively in all interactions.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
- Perform essential job functions competently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical and mental demands required for this position include:
- Occasional sitting, standing, and mobility to perform tasks.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Typical outdoor conditions with varying weather. The noise level is consistent with recreational environments.
SUPERVISION: Direct supervision by the Parks Crew Chief.
