Position Overview:

The role involves the maintenance and repair of various motor vehicles, including school buses, cars, and trucks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and communicate findings with the lead mechanic.
  • Plan and execute work procedures utilizing technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
  • Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to access mechanical components beneath vehicles.
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear using precision measuring tools.
  • Overhaul or replace essential engine components such as carburetors and fuel injectors.
  • Repair or replace critical engine parts, including pistons and valves, using hand tools.
  • Rewire and troubleshoot ignition systems and other electrical components.
  • Adjust brakes, align front ends, and perform minor body repairs.
  • Replace and adjust vehicle accessories and perform roadside repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
  • Be available for emergency bus driving or assistance as required.
  • Participate in weather-related assessments and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and in good physical condition, capable of performing moderate to heavy lifting. A high school diploma is required, along with prior experience as an automotive or truck technician. Candidates should be able to stand for extended periods and operate tools while being exposed to various environmental conditions.


Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Chief Mechanic and Supervisor of Transportation.
