Bowhead, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and physically fit General Laborer to join our team as a Construction Site Specialist. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor at our construction sites.
Key Responsibilities- Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, including cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, and performing demolition activities.
- Identify and load/offload building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
- Operate a truck to dispose of demolition materials.
- Operate hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, measuring equipment, and other equipment and instruments.
- Assist other craft workers and perform other duties as assigned.
- Assessing building structures to identify their structural components and determine the most efficient methods to perform demolitions.
- Examining job site surroundings to determine safety.
- Removing debris, rubble, and hazardous materials from job sites.
- Cleaning or preparing construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
- Loading, unloading, or identifying building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
- Measuring, marking, or recording openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
- Tending pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials.
- Mixing, pouring, or spreading concrete, using portable cement mixers.
- Controlling traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
- Digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, or compacting and leveling earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
- 1 year of general labor experience or equivalent.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs to 100lbs on an occasional basis.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.
- Ability to bend, squat, crouch, crawl, and kneel.
- Ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps).
- Ability to perform prolonged standing (2-3 hour intervals).
- Ability to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, above head).
- Ability to maintain good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.
- Ability to possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards.
- Ability to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
- Ability to utilize adequate visual skills.
- Ability to work at heights above 12' while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts.
- Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
- Ability to perceive attributes of an object/material such as size, shape, temperature and texture by means of receptors in the hands and fingers.
- Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.
- Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.
- Ability to reach in all directions.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating materials.
- Ability to withstand extreme temperatures (cold and hot).
- Ability to work in wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
- Ability to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles.
- Ability to work in a very loud noise environment.
