Position Summary:
This role reports directly to the Treasurer and is based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Indirect Tax Compliance Leader, you will oversee the management of compliance functions related to sales and use tax, as well as gross receipts for the United States.

1. Enhance and maintain the sales and use tax compliance processes while collaborating with external service providers.

2. Review and analyze source data files to prepare monthly and quarterly tax filings.

3. Assess and verify the accuracy of monthly and quarterly results and tax calculations provided by the service provider.

4. Identify compliance challenges through thorough analysis and research, proposing effective solutions and recommendations.

5. Assist in reconciling sales and use tax accounts as necessary.

6. Provide expert support for customer inquiries and field operations.

7. Compile and review documentation for sales/use tax audits and liaise with auditors.

8. Investigate and analyze any audit-related issues that arise.

9. Develop and advocate for tax positions, evaluating the potential risks and benefits of audit appeals and ruling requests.

10. Address any process or system issues identified during audits.

11. Mentor and supervise support staff, serving as a subject matter expert on sales and use tax matters and customer sales tax exemptions.

12. Assist with tax decision matrices, billing code issues, and changes in tax legislation across various jurisdictions while aligning with company trends and initiatives.

13. Ensure timely and accurate processing of all sales tax exemption requests.

14. Provide state and local property tax planning and compliance services in collaboration with external compliance providers.

15. Support external providers during property tax audits and reviews.

16. Collaborate with business partners to gather and consolidate items of unclaimed property.

17. Maintain records and databases for unclaimed property reporting in conjunction with external compliance providers.

18. Oversee the planning, assignment, monitoring, and review of tax analysis projects to ensure accuracy and timely completion.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA, MBA, or CMI preferred

Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in sales and use tax
- Proven experience in managing compliance functions and leading a team
- Experience in a large accounting firm or major corporate environment is preferred

Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of sales tax and solid accounting principles
- Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team
- Familiarity with Vertex tax software and Mastermind billing software is advantageous
