Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in challenging circumstances, adhering to policies, procedures, and training.
  • Conduct routine patrols to ensure safety and security, including inspections, audits, and contraband searches.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including workplace violence, combative patients, and team member incidents.
  • Investigate incidents, complete reports, and escalate complaints to leadership as necessary.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and first responder agencies, coordinate prisoner patient guards, and ensure policy compliance.
  • Participate in training and education programs to maintain current Department standards and competencies.

Requirements:

  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Illinois State Police.
  • A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
  • Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire.
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS).
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning in dealings with employees, visitors, and patients.
  • Ability to work a flexible scheduling, including off-shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions:

  • Must sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday, and lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
