BNSF Railway is seeking a highly skilled Conductor Trainee to join our team in Rail Operations. As a Conductor Trainee, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight across our vast network.
Key Responsibilities- Train Operation: Safely switch railcars and manage train movement, ensuring compliance with company and federal regulations.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with colleagues and management through various communication devices, monitoring and reporting daily work.
- Switching Functions: Operate track switches and derails to change train routing within yards or on road, checking switch points for proper alignment.
- Train and Equipment Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of trains and equipment, observing and monitoring track conditions, and inspecting cars per federal regulations.
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions.
- Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces.
- Work in a safety-sensitive environment.
- Exposure to loud noise and fumes.
- Work on and around heavy and moving machinery.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
- Able to work safely in extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work the required shift/hours.
- Able to meet the required travel requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to see, learn, and interpret hand signals from near and far.
