Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant - Memory Care Unit

Join our team at Sunnyside Presbyterian Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on our Memory Care Unit. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled CNA to provide high-quality care to our residents. As a CNA on our Memory Care Unit, you will be responsible for assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), documenting resident care, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, toileting, and dining
  • Document resident care and maintain accurate records
  • Provide tub baths, showers, or bed baths as needed
  • Transfer, lift, and turn residents using good body mechanics and proper protocol
  • Provide toileting needs and accurately record this information daily
  • Walk residents as they are able and encourage ambulation
  • Give or supervise mouth care to each resident as assigned
  • Answer resident call bells in a timely manner and respond to calls within 3-6 minutes
  • Observe residents for changes and report them immediately
  • Participate in resident care plan process and offer suggestions for revisions
  • Maintain resident rooms neat and uncluttered
  • Correct safety issues and complete maintenance or housekeeping requests as needed
  • Prepare residents for appointments and transport them as needed
  • Record and report vital signs and pertinent information
  • Serve residents trays and feed residents requiring assistance
  • Operate patient care equipment as needed
  • Take direction from staff nurse and ensure assignments are understood and carried out
Requirements:
  • Must have completed 80-hour certification courses in Geriatric Nursing or be presently enrolled
  • Must have passed Virginia NACEP test after completion of 80-hour certification course
  • Must have current Nursing Assistant license through Virginia Board of Nursing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its integrity
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Ability to work in stressful environment and deal with medical emergency situations
