POSITION OVERVIEW

The Gastroenterology Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with gastrointestinal conditions. This role involves coordinating treatment plans for a diverse range of disorders affecting the digestive system. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, physician assistants, dieticians, surgeons, pathologists, and pharmacists, the Gastroenterology Physician serves as a key expert in disease management and prevention.

Key responsibilities include conducting various diagnostic tests such as blood work, colonoscopies, and endoscopies. Proficiency in performing these procedures and interpreting results is essential for effectively communicating findings to patients.

Essential Qualifications
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal conditions, with a comprehensive understanding of the Gastroenterology Physician's scope of practice.
  • Experience in performing and interpreting Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and Pathology Results.
  • Preferred experience with ERCP.
  • Training in ERCP, EGD, and Colonoscopies, with a minimum of 10-12 procedures annually.
  • Ability to provide consultations for Gastroenterology assessments within a timely manner.
  • Fellowship or certification from the American Association of Gastroenterology.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
Required Experience
  • Valid California Medical license.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical School.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency program.
  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship program.
  • Evidence of ongoing education and professional development to maintain licensure.
  • Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Subspecialty Certification from the American Board of Gastroenterology.
  • Board certified or board eligible.
