Position Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient storage, shipping, receiving, and replenishment of finished goods to fire sprinkler contractors via various transportation methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all shipping and receiving operations within the distribution center.
  • Utilize handheld scanners to accurately track and deliver materials throughout the warehouse.
  • Operate various types of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Conduct daily inspections of lift equipment and maintain accurate reports.
  • Assist customers with Will-Call orders in a professional manner.
  • Identify and report any inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Warehouse or Operations Supervisor.
  • Communicate backorder information to the Customer Service Department.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and reporting hazardous conditions promptly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Reliable products, including part numbers and descriptions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping, and receiving processes.
  • Capability to safely operate lift trucks and other warehouse machinery.
  • Solid mathematical skills.
  • Experience with AS400 and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Work is conducted in a non-climate controlled warehouse setting.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of 50 feet or more.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Appropriate safety gear is required, including harnesses and steel-toed footwear.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 70 pounds as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a warehouse setting.
