Cashier Job Description

Mead Lumber is seeking a skilled Cashier to join our team. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workstation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
  • Greet every customer you see in the store or within 10 feet of.
  • Answer incoming phone calls.
  • Count cash drawer at opening and close every day.
  • Process customers quickly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Process cash, credit card, and charge transactions accurately following all company procedures.
  • Attend training sessions to learn and keep current on products we sell.
  • Assist with stocking of merchandise in the store.
  • Listen and work with customers to solve customer needs.
  • Learn proper procedures for orders, special orders, purchase orders, credit memos, and invoicing.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Can stand for an extended period of time.
  • Proficient in using computers and calculator.
  • Physical strength to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Can react quickly to problems and respond to them accurately and professionally.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with customers.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
