Manufacturing Process Specialist

This position is responsible for conducting design reviews, creating simple mechanical designs, and providing technical support. The engineer will also plan and design product applications, manage complex activities, and oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects within a tier-one automotive supplier machining manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Estimate production times, staffing needs, and associated costs to ensure accurate project planning.
- Transition products from development to mass production, ensuring seamless execution.
- Assist in reviewing contractor plans, including setting goals, objectives, schedules, and timelines to ensure project success.
- Oversee budgeting and provide technical direction and support to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Serve as a business liaison and attend briefings with senior management, assisting with problem resolution and communication.
- Design and test electronic products, write test procedures, and conduct product/process analysis to drive cost reduction, improve quality, and enhance efficiency.
- Develop and test tools, machinery, and equipment for optimized manufacturing methods, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in shift meetings and perform 5S duties to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree preferred in Engineering or related field. An Associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with a minimum of four (4) years of experience/training is also acceptable.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods, including machining, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical skills.
- Proficiency in using various software applications, including Excel, Microsoft Word, and CAD.
- Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and ability to work in a team environment.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the plant floor, requiring the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, and sitting are occasionally required, with frequent handling, fingering, and twisting.
- Occasional reaching, squatting, kneeling, and bending, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull Requirements: Occasionally up to 25 lbs.
- Repetitive Motion: Occasional.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week (constant), with occasional over 40 hours and weekends.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Must wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Technology Use:
- Ability to effectively use computers and other job-related equipment.
