Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the Agency's primary building. This position involves adhering to a structured cleaning timetable and performing maintenance tasks on the premises and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and assist in maintaining a safe environment by identifying and addressing hazardous conditions.
  2. Follow established cleaning protocols and schedules diligently.
  3. Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, including emergency lighting, exit signs, and sprinkler systems.
  4. Perform minor repairs on the building and equipment as per the technician's skill level.
  5. Manage inventory and procurement of cleaning supplies and materials necessary for maintenance tasks.
  6. Inspect the exterior of the building for damages and ensure the removal of debris and litter.
  7. Wear appropriate safety gear, including a back brace belt, while performing assigned duties.
  8. Assist colleagues with logistical tasks, such as relocating furniture and materials.
  9. Ensure all windows and doors are secured and the building alarm is activated.
  10. Complete additional duties as required to support the overall maintenance objectives.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning materials and equipment is essential. Experience in basic plumbing, electrical work, mechanical systems, and carpentry is advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants should have normal or corrected vision and hearing capabilities, as well as clear speech for effective communication. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate stairs and ladders. Candidates must be prepared to handle various materials safely and maintain composure in challenging situations.
