Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join their team for a 13-week assignment in Brownwood, Texas. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for administering radioactive substances to patients, ensuring correct dosage and safe handling.
Job Description:- Radiopharmaceutical Administration:
- Prepare and Administer Radiosubstances: Ensure accurate dosing and proper handling of radioactive materials.
- Monitor Patient Safety: Conduct thorough checks during administration to prevent adverse reactions or complications.
- Dispose of Radioactive Materials: Safely eliminate radioactive waste in accordance with established protocols.
- Imaging and Diagnostic Procedures:
- Operate Nuclear Medicine Equipment: Use gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners to capture detailed images of organs, tissues, and bones.
- Perform Diagnostic Imaging Tests: Capture high-quality images for disease detection and diagnosis.
- Patient Positioning: Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.
- Equipment Settings: Adjust settings to obtain clear and accurate diagnostic images.
- Patient Interaction and Preparation:
- Explain Imaging Procedures: Clearly communicate test processes and risks to patients.
- Verify Patient Identity and History: Confirm patient information to ensure appropriate radiopharmaceutical use.
- Prepare Patients: Assist patients into the correct position and provide necessary support.
- Image Analysis and Documentation:
- Review Images: Ensure diagnostic quality and proper labeling.
- Preliminary Analysis: Provide initial findings to physicians and radiologists.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Document patient history, test results, and imaging reports.
- Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment for optimal function.
- Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Resolve problems related to imaging equipment or radiopharmaceuticals.
- Safety Protocols: Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection control guidelines.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Regulatory Guidelines: Follow NRC and RSO regulations regarding radioactive substance use.
- Radiation Exposure Management: Monitor and minimize patient and staff radiation exposure.
- Stay Up-to-Date: Maintain knowledge of safety standards and best practices.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
- Cross-Functional Communication: Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Discuss Cases: Share patient information and imaging results to inform treatment plans.
- Participate in Multidisciplinary Meetings: Contribute to case discussions and review treatment options.
- Patient Care and Follow-up:
- Post-Procedural Instructions: Provide guidance on hydration and potential side effects.
- Monitor Recovery: Assist patients after procedures and address any immediate medical concerns.
- Follow-up Care: Inform patients about required follow-up imaging or treatments.
The pay package includes tax-free stipends and competitive hourly rates based on 40 hours per week. The estimated salary range for this assignment is $100,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
