Position Overview: The University Medical Center in Metro TN is in search of a dedicated physician to take on a full-time role that merges clinical practice with program leadership within a developing hospital-based palliative care initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive palliative medicine consultations and manage patient care.
  • Lead efforts to enhance the clinical and educational objectives of the service.
  • Educate hospital staff, including physicians, nurses, and residents, on the principles of palliative care.
  • Oversee the training and mentorship of advanced practice nurses specializing in palliative care.
  • Facilitate the integration of palliative medicine into standard clinical practices.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess board certification in a primary specialty (such as pediatrics, internal medicine/pediatrics, or family medicine) along with certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or eligibility for certification. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills are essential. Preference will be given to those who have completed a fellowship in palliative medicine and have 3-5 years of experience in a palliative care setting.
